Cal lane from Halifax, Nova Scotia was raised in British Columbia. She went to college in New York and in Canada, majoring in sculpture, welding and painting. Soon after she received her welding certification. With her diploma in fine arts she became a professor at Suny purchase college, metal working instructor and shop technician and several artist assistant jobs until she became a self employed welder.
